In order to correct a problem, you must identify the source of it. Unless you have superhuman vision, you will not be able to see the thousands of stands of bacteria that are having a party on most surfaces you come into contact with on a daily basis. This is where the Adenosine Trisphosphate (ATP) testing comes in.
What is Adenosine Trisphosphate (ATP)? In short, ATP is the universal unit of energy found in all living cells. Everything from plants to humans produce ATP as their system naturally creates it every second.
ATP Testing: If ATP is present on the various surfaces in your facility, this tells us that there is living matter, whether it is allergens, bacteria or contamination, on that actual surface. We use ATP swabs to test a specific area and produce a report on exactly how much ATP is being produced in that exact spot. If any come up in our report, (and usually thousands do), this indicates that the surface is contaminated and bacteria is alive and well. Since nothing should be living on common surfaces, it is important to test for ATP. After we spray our electrically charged disinfectant and allow for proper dwell time, we test the area again. Within a matter of minutes, your counter-top can go from a germ station to sterilization!
